Pressure Monitoring System

Hospital is a place where we all visit for care and cure for any given disease condition. From a hospital management perspective, it is a matter of higher responsibility to keep the premises clean and safe from any unexpected bacterial infections. This will help the patient get the best cure without unnecessary risks of getting prone to other disease conditions from being exposed to the hospital environment.

Health facilities are a place where there are different kinds of pivotal areas such as laboratories, critical care units, isolation wards, operation theatres, post-operation wards, etc. were it the necessity of maintaining tidiness as well as consistent pressure levels inside every room.

The need for room pressure monitors is a prime necessity in Hospitals, Clean Rooms, Covid-19 Isolation wards, etc. to avoid contaminants from entering or exiting the protected areas. The pressure levels will be different and it results in the formation of various bacteria, pathogens, or viruses that may enter or leave in isolated rooms.

A room pressure monitoring system helps to keep patients and staff safe from not getting infected by different kinds of diseases and also reduces the chance of getting contaminated. Based on the type of room or area, it has to be well maintained with an accurate level of pressure inside. Technically considered, the room with higher pressure has positive pressure, and the room with lower pressure has negative pressure thus called Differential Pressure. With the help of our advanced pressure monitoring technology, it is possible to substantially decrease several problems by constantly monitoring the air pressure. By maintaining negative air pressure, there are lesser chances of contamination spreading to the patients and staff.

We supply many types of pressure monitors of model VAC – CPS – 6000  for different applications which is useful for positive as well as for negative pressure. They are:

  • CPS 6020 is a dual-room monitor and 6040 is a four-room monitor used in hospitals and processes where you need to have easy access to information on the critical parameters of your operation or process.
  • CPS 6020/40 is the model for a single room. You can select a positive pressure room to protect a patient or product or a negative pressure room to protect the surroundings from smells, dust, or particles.

Negative Pressure Room and Positive Pressure Room

The term negative air pressure refers to the condition where the atmospheric pressure is lower in one place than the other. Unlike negative pressure rooms, positive pressure rooms maintain a higher internal pressure than the surrounding environment. This means air can leave the room without circulating back into it, thus any airborne particles that originate will get removed. But in the case of negative pressure rooms, it gets filled with various contaminants such as viruses, bacteria, pathogens, etc. which can cause various kinds of diseases because of the air that is present inside the room. Therefore, by using these monitoring systems, it will act to circumstances of its own.

Differential pressure sensors are for both negative and positive pressure systems. All that differs is the configuration of the pressure values. Pressure sensors monitor pressure differences and are collectively called differential pressure monitoring systems.

Functions of Pressure Monitoring System, model no. VAC-CPS-600

  1. The system ensures that air does not move between monitored areas. Thus, bacteria cannot spread through the sensor to the protected area.
  2. It measures and records the pressure difference between any two rooms. In addition, it works the same between a room and the corridor within a building.
  3. Upon insufficient pressure difference, the system generates an alarm via a phone call, SMS, or siren.
  4. The sensor will not get affected by dust which might result in errors.

Applications of Pressure Monitoring System, model VAC-CPS-6000

  1. Maintains a record of the air pressure of an isolation room and the corridor to ensure the isolation room is at a lower pressure at all times. The absence of enough differential pressure can raise an alarm.
  2. Makes sure that the air pressure in the operating theatre room and the corridor is higher at all times, to ensure that the air pressure stays elevated. In case the pressure difference gets lower, then the alarm goes off.
  3. This instrument monitors the pressure in a central sterile services department (CSSD) and its corridor, ensuring that the CSSD room is kept at a higher pressure at all times, and if the pressure drops, a warning gets issued.
  4. The system also checks and records the pressure levels between two rooms such as between a clean room and corridor or any room and corridor and if the pressure is in a lower state then it is been informed with the help of the alarm system.

Key Features of Model – CPS –  6000

  1. It is easy to transport between different rooms, especially between isolation and clean rooms.
  2. By this Model up to 4 different rooms are monitored, out of which the model 6020 system can monitor 2 rooms whereas the model 6040 system can monitor 4 rooms.
  3. The staff finds it easy to understand what it indicates by the color where red indicates the alarm and green indicates a normal condition.
  4. The system continuously measures the pressure 24/7 of attached sensors.
  5. It can give accurate and stable pressure measurements and is inbuilt with slave panels for flexible mounting.
  6. The product includes the feature of monitoring on a computer through your local area network. The system can also work as a standalone unit without connecting to a centralized network.

Device Specifications  of CPS 6000 for clean rooms, COVID – 19 Isolation Rooms, Hospitals

The CPS system is flexible and easy to use for the medical staff. The 6020 can monitor and show alarms for 2 different rooms at the same time (6040 shows up to 4 rooms) if you have ante-rooms or side rooms monitor as well. When the product is placed in the surrounding rooms, the Slave panels help in easy configuration and installation. So it’s easy to know the status and alarms of all-important working areas. It’s possible to add up to 10 slave panels to one master panel. The system is dynamic as slaves can be individually configured.

This system has a low installation cost as it uses intelligent sensors and digital Modbus communication and has an easy start-up compared to those of traditional analog systems. It is more convenient to add more rooms or panels after the installation as it is being made on advanced programming.

FAQs:

1. What is a room pressure monitor?

Room Pressure Monitors are devices or a system designed to keep pivotal areas such as hospital rooms, clean rooms, COVID – 19 isolation wards, operating rooms, pharmacies, and clean rooms safe by reducing the chance of contamination by reducing the negative pressure and increasing the positive pressure in these critical rooms.

2. How do you measure negative pressure in a room?

By using an electronic device with a pressure port in one room and an isolation port in another room by continuously monitoring the pressure differential between the spaces, the negative pressure can be measured. The advantages of this type of monitoring are that the test is continuous and an alarm will alert staff to undesirable pressure changes.

3. How do you maintain positive pressure in a room?

Maintaining positive pressure in an airborne infection-free isolation room is essential. With the help of a smart pressure monitoring system, the health facility will be able to maintain it. This is the same as a negative room pressure monitor or a positive room pressure monitor. A single device serves both these purposes. It constantly monitors the room pressure and outside pressure. In case the pressure difference is varying, it will alert the nursing station.

4. What is the benefit of having a room pressure monitor in a hospital?

The main benefit of having a room pressure monitor in a hospital is to control the positive and negative room pressure levels simultaneously to prevent the important rooms from being getting trapped with pathogens. This is cost-effective as it is easy to install.

5. Why it is important to have a room pressure monitor for the COVID-19 isolation room?

We all know that COVID – 19 can be a carrier by transmitting it through the air and hence it’s categorized among airborne diseases. So, having a room pressure monitor will help to maintain the isolation ward out from being at lower pressure that is the negative room pressure, and will help to stay at a positive room pressure level. This will stop the virus from being spreading from one room to consecutive rooms and affecting other people.
